OCEAN CITY - After registration closed yesterday for the 34th Annual White Marlin Open, it was announced 396 boats are competing in the annual event, which will hand out a little more than $3 million this year.
Although the number of boats and payout is down from last year, the same old excitement surrounds the event.
More than 300 boats left the Inlet this morning to fish, but marine conditions were less than ideal as 10-20-knot winds out of the south, south-east were expected with seas three to six feet.
The Dispatch will be updating its website each morning with the preceding day's results. A live webcam can also be found at http://www.whitemarlinopen.com/
