BERLIN- Stephen Decatur’s girls’ varsity soccer team played Kent Island to a 1-1 draw on Monday after a second half goal tied the score and keeper Ashley DePaul kept the Buccaneers right where they were.
Kent Island scored an early goal in the first half to jump out to a 1-0 lead, but that was as close to the Decatur net as the Buccaneers would get the rest of the day. Decatur scored on a goal by Tori Whigham off an assist by Paige Torpey in the second half to tie the game at 1-1. Ashley DePaul shut down Kent Island the rest of the way, recording 19 saves in goal, as the game ended in a 1-1 tie.
