At Stephen Decatur High School, art teacher Cindy Pilchard and stained glass artist Lucinda Shaw are working with 65 students for six weeks to produce a permanent stained glass window above the media center book drop. This spring, there will be a reception to recognize the artists and the product. The design of the window includes a mermaid on a rock reading a book which exemplifies both the oceanic and academic setting of the media center. The design of the project began in the spring of 2007. Above are Pilchard and students Holly Melson, Michael Hunter, Maria Sandival, Janna Vignale, Armando Cordoba, Julianne Petsche and Issac Holland.
