Authorities Seeking Leads In Armed Robberies

SALISBURY -- Salisbury Police this week are looking for suspects in three seemingly unrelated armed robbery cases about 18 hours apart from Sunday night to Monday afternoon including just minutes apart on Sunday.

Around 9:54 p.m. on Sunday, Salisbury Police responded to the McDonald’s restaurant on South Salisbury Blvd. for a reported robbery. Responding officers met with store management who said a lone suspect had entered the restaurant had attempted to rob the restaurant. According to police reports, the suspect entered the restaurant and got into one of the service lines.

When the suspect reached the counter, he told the cashier he was in possession of a handgun and attempted to take cash from the register. However, the cashier was able to close the register, thwarting the robbery attempt by the alleged gunman. The suspect then fled the restaurant on foot and was last seen heading in the direction of Bateman Street.

There were no injuries reported and the suspect did not actually display a weapon during the robbery attempt. The suspect is described as a black male, roughly 30-35 years old, about 6’3” to 6’5” tall and approximately 280 pounds. He was wearing a blue, hooded sweatshirt at the time with a dark hat and wire-framed glasses.

The suspect also had a mustache with a distinct break in the middle of his upper lip, according to police reports.

About seven minutes after that incident, Salisbury Police responded to a reported robbery at the Shore Stop on Pemberton Drive. Salisbury officers met with a cashier who said a suspect entered the store, produced a silver handgun and vaulted the counter.

The suspect was able to enter the cash register and took an undetermined amount of money and placed it in a bag. The suspect then fled from the store toward the rear of the business. The clerk was unharmed during the robbery. The suspect is described as a black male wearing a black ski mask, black gloves, a black long-sleeved T-shirt and gray or white sweatpants. According to police reports, the suspect had a ponytail or long braid in his hair.

Shortly after 4 p.m. on Monday, roughly 18 hours after the first two incidents, Salisbury Police responded to another reported armed robbery, this time in the City Park and in broad daylight. According to police reports, the incident occurred on the walking-jogging path near the park’s overflow parking lot on the north side of the river.

Responding officers met with a victim who told police he was walking his dog along the path when he was approached by a black male in his early 20s, roughly 5’6” tall and 170 pounds. The suspect displayed what appeared to be a silver-in-color handgun and allegedly said “give me your money, give me your wallet,” and “I’ll shoot you, I’ll kill you.”

The suspect then ordered to victim to lie face down on the ground before taking his wallet, car keys and cell phone. The suspect then fled on foot and was last seen running toward North Park Drive. The victim described the weapon as a small in caliber handgun with a six-inch barrel.
