In last week's Between The Lines column, information retrieved from the Ocean City Police Department's Daily Bulletin on its website was referred to as calls for service. According to PFC Mike Levy, the information found on that bulletin represents 'physical written reports.'

Those figures were examined to compare the resort's police activity to that of Salisbury's. Here's a look at the town's actual calls for service for the dates used last week with Salisbury's numbers represented in parenthesis: Dec. 12, 89 (145); Dec. 13, 114 (114); Dec. 14, 106 (111); and Dec. 15, 137 (122).

The intent of the editorial column was to show the drastic difference between police calls for service in Ocean City compared to Salisbury. The data provided by Ocean City police this week proves there is little to no gap. The confusion is regrettable.
