Mallards Pick Up Where They Left Off

1/11/2013 | By Shawn J. Soper, Sports Editor

BERLIN- Worcester Prep’s boys’ varsity basketball team showed no ill effects of the long holiday layoff this week, sweeping two games against Delmarva Christian and St. Thomas More to improve to 8-0 on the season.

The Mallards cruised through the first half of their season, compiling an impressive 6-0 record in late November and December. However, they last played way back on December 17 in a game they won over Central Christian and did not play again for nearly three weeks.

Last Friday, the Mallards hit the court for the first time in the second half of the season and cruised past Delmarva Christian, 52-36. On Monday, Worcester beat St. Thomas More, 71-42, to improve to 8-0. Zander Farr led the Mallards with 20 points, while Ryan Nally scored 19. Matt Reilly also contributed with 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Worcester faces Gunston at home this afternoon before facing off against Chincoteague again at home on Monday. After four straight home games to start the second half, the Mallards will hit the road for the first time next Wednesday against Salisbury Christian.
