Snow Hill 8th Grader Wins Prestigious Award

2/20/2009 | By The Dispatch Staff

The Presidential Spirit of Community Awards represent the United States' largest youth recognition program based exclusively on volunteer community service. The program's goal is to applaud young people who are already making a positive difference in their towns and neighborhoods, and even more importantly, to inspire others to think how they might contribute to the well being of their communities. Hannah Scarborough, an eighth grader at Snow Hill Middle School, was recently recognized as a recipient of this prestigious award.  She is pictured with Janet Simpson, principal of SHMS, receiving the Certificate of Meritorious Service award.
