Berlin Seahawks Top Laurel to Remain Unbeaten

10/16/2009 | By Shawn J. Soper, Sports Editor

BERLIN- The Berlin Seahawks Pee Wee team of the Cape Henlopen Pop Warner Football League picked up a huge win last week, beating the Laurel Bulldogs, 27-14, in a battle of unbeaten conference heavyweights.

Something had to give as the two teams met last week with Berlin atop the standings at 6-0 and Laurel also unbeaten and just behind at 5-0. Berlin handed Laurel its first loss of the season and remained unbeaten at 7-0.

The Seahawks have one regular season game remaining against Cape Henlopen, but have already qualified for the Pop Warner regional playoffs. At stake is a possible trip to Disney in Orlando in December to compete for the Pop Warner national championship. Meanwhile, the Berlin Seahawks Jr. Pee Wee team is 6-1 and has also qualified for the regional playoffs.
