Decatur Continues Up and Down Pattern

4/06/2012 | By Shawn J. Soper, Sports Editor

BERLIN- Stephen Decatur’s girls’ varsity lacrosse team bounced back from a defeat at the hands of Bayside North power Kent Island last week with a 21-2 pasting of Wicomico on the road on Monday.

The Seahawks continued an early season up-and-down pattern this week, beating Wicomico convincingly, 21-2, on Monday after falling to Kent Island last Thursday. The Decatur girls started the season with a 16-0 win over Cambridge-South Dorchester and followed that with a loss to rival Parkside, 12-3. Decatur then cruised past Bennett, 16-4, lost Tuesday before falling to Kent Island last Thursday.

The Seahawks righted the ship on Monday with the 21-2 win over Wicomico. Elizabeth Anderson led the offensive onslaught with four goals, while Ashley Trice, Jamie Parker and Erin Florek each scored three goals. The Decatur girls return after the Easter break to face Queen Anne’s at home next week.
