BERLIN- Stephen Decatur's new swim team is ready to hit the pool with an eight-meet schedule that gets underway next week with scrimmages against Kent Island and Queen Anne's on the road next Thursday.
This is the inaugural season for the new swim team at Stephen Decatur High School, which will compete as a club team for at least the first season after which an assessment will be made to consider making it a fully sanctioned sport at the Berlin school. The team has been practicing at the Sports Core pool in Ocean Pines and was scheduled to practice yesterday at the YMCA in Pocomoke, which will be its home venue in the first year.
The boys' and girls' varsity swim teams will face Kent Island and Queen Anne's next Thursday in their first-ever meets, but will not compete again until after the holiday break.
