OCEAN CITY- The Ocean City Recreation and Parks Department's Fall Flag Football League got underway last week with a full slate of games at Northside Park. The following is a quick glance at some of the week one action:

(bullet) Kirby's 26- FOP Lodge 10-6: Kirby's jumped out to an early lead and held on to win its season opener over the FOP. Quarterback Bart Talbert threw four touchdown passes including two each to Ryan Murphy and Justin Fiedler, the longest of which was a 40-yarder. Allen Hawk connected on a 50-yard touchdown pass to Danny Bokinsky for the FOP's only score.

(bullet) Schell Brothers/Greene Turtle 46- The Buoys-6: Quarterback Ray Taranto started the game with touchdown passes of 25 yards and 37 yards to Eric Givens to jump out to a 16-0 lead as Schell Brothers/Greene Turtle never looked back. The Buoys got on the board with a 50-yard TD pass from Steve Fowler to Mark Muller to cut the lead to 16-6, but Taranto responded with four straight touchdown passes to four different receivers to extend the lead to 46-6. The Buoys got back on the scoreboard late on a five-yard touchdown pass from Fowler to J.W. Abernathy to finish out the game at 46-12.

(bullet) Seacrets 21- Alumni's 12: Seacrets quarterback Ryan Gartland started the game with a 50-yard TD pass to Brandon Bailey for a quick 7-0 lead, but the Alumni's responded with a touchdown of their own on a 10-yard pass from Eric Mitchell to Terran Wright to cut the lead to 7-6. Gartland then ran for an eight-yard score and hit Steve Monroe on a 42-yard bomb to push the lead to 21-6. The Alumni's got a late score on a 60-yard interception return for a touchdown by R.J. Thomas.

(bullet) Buxy's Salty Dog 18-Blue Ox 0: Quarterback D.J. Draus ran for a five-yard touchdown and threw two touchdown passes to Adam Blaney as Buxy's blanked Blue Ox in the season opener for both teams.
