OCEAN CITY- The K-Coast Surf Team made a strong showing at a Northeast District National Scholastic Surfing Association (NSSA) contest in New Jersey last weekend with the local surfers finishing in the finals in each event they entered.
The K-Coast Surf Team rocked the competition at Seaside Heights, N.J. last weekend with every team member finishing at or near the top in their respective divisions. The contest, the NSSA’s third in a summer series, was held in near perfect conditions with a northeast swell and waves in the 3-5-foot range throughout the competition.
The NSSA draws the hottest amateur surfers in the U.S. with qualifiers invited to the NSSA Nationals held in California each summer. The NSSA’s are recognized as a stepping stone to professional surfing. All K-Coast team members compete in the Eastern Surfing Association in Ocean City throughout the season. The next event is scheduled for next Saturday, June 25 at either the Inlet or 48th Street in Ocean City.
Sam Deeley led the local contingent in New Jersey last weekend, finishing first in both the Explorer Boys and the Open Juniors, while winning the Air Show and finishing fourth in the Open Men’s. Seth Conboy was second in the Open Men’s and second in the Explorer Junior Men’s. Noah Conboy was second in the Open Juniors and Evan Conboy was second in the Open Boys. Simon Hetrick was fourth in both the Open Boys and the Explorer Longboard, and fifth in the Explorer Boys.
