BERLIN- Worcester Prep’s boys’ varsity basketball team remained unbeaten this week, beating Greenwood Mennonite, 65-49, to improve to 5-0 on the season.
The Mallards are off to one of their best starts in recent memory after running the table in their first five games. Against Greenwood Mennonite on Monday, Worcester led 16-12 after the first quarter and rode a 10-point run in the second quarter to take a 32-18 lead into halftime.
Greenwood rallied a little in the third quarter and actually outscored the Mallards in the period, but the damage had been done and Worcester led, 46-33, going into the fourth. The Mallards cruised the rest of the way and finished with the 65-49 win to improve to 5-0.
Matt Reilly led Worcester with 18 points, while Ryan Nally scored 16 and Harrison Brennan added 14. Worcester finishes the first half with a home game against Central Christian on Monday before the long holiday break.
