OCEAN CITY - Ocean City will be alive with events this weekend, as the Ravens Roost Convention rolls into town as well as the Geico Offshore Powerboat Races.

The Council of Baltimore Ravens Roosts are getting ready to paint the town purple for the 44th Annual Ravens Roost Convention.

The featured attraction during the convention is the parade on Baltimore Avenue on Saturday, May 31 starting at 10 a.m. on Johnny Unitas Way (19th Street) and heading north to 26th Street. The parade will feature floats, marching bands, pom pom groups, pipe bands and color guards.

After the parade, the Council of Ravens Roosts are invited to compete in volleyball and horseshoe tournaments as well as Tug-of-War at the Castle in the Sand Hotel.

Ravens memorabilia and merchandise will be available for purchase Friday and Saturday, May 30-31, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. in the parking lot of the Castle in the Sand Hotel.

The powerboat event will kick off Friday, May 29 as the powerboats set up shop in West Ocean City at the Sunset Marina. On Saturday, spectators can view the high-power vessels at no charge. Crews will be on hand to answer any questions. Sunday is race day with the first race at 12:30 p.m. and the second starting at 2 p.m.

The race extends from 4th Street to 42nd Street. Beachgoers will be able to easily see the boats from the shoreline.

The races are the first leg of this year's Miss Geico Triple Crown. The event will culminate with an awards ceremony at Sunset Grille on Sunday night.
