BERLIN- Stephen Decatur’s varsity football team got its 2012 campaign off to a fast start last Friday, routing Washington High, 40-14, at home to jump out to a 1-0 record.
The Seahawks used the time-honored combination of a prolific running game led by James Mapp and P.J. Copes, a transfer for Wicomico High, along with efficient passing by senior quarterback Colin Macomber, to set the stage on offense. On the defensive side, the Seahawks were stingy, allowing just 14 points for the Jaguars. Decatur faces always-tough Indian River at home tonight in a non-conference game before hitting the road for two games.
