BERLIN- In preparation for the 2011 season, the Beach Lacrosse Program has a major fundraising event on tap next week. Beach Lacrosse, a volunteer organization that has been around for 18 years and has introduced thousands of young local players to the game including many now playing in high school and college, is currently nearing the home stretch for registration for the 2011 season and has several fundraisers planned in order raise money for uniforms, equipment and travel expenses for players. The club does not turn away any interested players regardless of their ability to pay and uses funds raised for its scholarship programs. To that end, Beach Lacrosse has a fundraiser scheduled for next Thursday, the proceeds of which will be used to purchase new uniforms for the boys’ teams. The adult-themed fundraiser will be held at the Greene Turtle West on March 24 from 6-9 p.m. The event features live entertainment, draft beer and appetizers, giveaways, raffles and auctions in exchange for a nominal donation to the club at the door. For more information, contact Beach Lacrosse at (410) 641-4340.
