BERLIN- The Greene Turtle Eastern Shore Lacrosse Club last weekend competed in the prestigious Gait Cup Tournament in Gettysburg and made its way through the brackets before falling in the championship game.
The Greene Turtle team, made up of some of the top players in the local area and all over the Eastern Shore, competed in the Gait Cup National Tournament in Gettysburg last weekend. The college recruiting tournament is very competitive with top teams from all over the country competing.
The Greene Turtle Eastern Shore team, under the direction of Matt McGinnis and Ben Sandlin of Salisbury University, went 7-2 in the tournament and made it through its brackets to reach the championship game. Although the team was defeated in the championship game, it played hard and worked together for a positive tournament experience that will prepare them for future events later this summer.
The Greene Turtle Eastern Shore team was established to offer highly competitive student-athletes an opportunity within a select program to gain exposure in the recruiting process while competing in some of the top tournaments in the region and across the country. The players represent high schools from all over the Eastern Shore, who come together during the summer months to participate in highly competitive tournaments.
