BERLIN- Stephen Decatur’s varsity wrestlers turned in a strong performance at the Bayside Conference championships last weekend, finishing second overall as a team and collecting a bunch of top finishes in individual weight classes. The Seahawks rode a solid run of first-place finishes in the middle weight classes to finish with 196 total team points, second only to Kent Island, which won the Bayside tournament with 294 team points. BERLIN- Stephen Decatur’s varsity swimming teams were solid at the state 3A-4A East regional meet last weekend, with the girls finishing first as a team and the boys coming in a close second. The Decatur girls finished first overall as a team with 303 total points, while Kent Island was second with 236 and Thomas Stone was third with 198.5. BERLIN- Stephen Decatur’s varsity indoor track team members excelled in the state Class 3A meet this week in Prince George’s County including a state championship in the high jump for sophomore Lucas Duker. Four Seahawks qualified in three different individual field events at the 3A-East region meet last week and earned spots in the state championship meet at the Prince George’s Sports and Learning Complex on Tuesday. BERLIN- Stephen Decatur’s girls’ varsity basketball team last week knocked off previously unbeaten and Bayside South front-runner Parkside in the penultimate game of the regular season and finished with a 20-2 record and a high seed in the state 3A-East Region tournament that gets underway next week. BERLIN- Stephen Decatur’s boys’ varsity basketball team closed out its regular season last weekend, splitting its final two games, and now gets ready to start the state 3A-East Region tournament.
