BERLIN- Deer hunters across Worcester County and much of the state will get the opportunity to seek their prey this weekend with the re-opening of the late white-tailed deer season in the region today and tomorrow.
Maryland's late firearm deer season reopened today and continues tomorrow in Deer Management Region B, which encompasses 21 counties in Maryland including Worcester. The regular two-week firearm season in the region closed on January 2. However, a special two-day season reopened today in Region B including Worcester County, further thinning the numbers while allowing local and state hunters another opportunity to get out and hunt deer.
'The late firearm season is a great time to harvest antlerless deer,' said Maryland DNR Wildlife and Heritage Service deer project leader Brian Eyler. 'Hunters can enjoy a recreational opportunity with friends and family while hopefully putting healthy and sustainable venison in the freezer. At the same time, the citizens of the state benefit from the effective deer population management that hunting contributes.'
