SNOW HILL – Snow Hill’s Art and Entertainment District’s 4th Annual Blues Jam will be held on Friday, April 15 from 7-11 p.m.
Headline entertainment this year includes Daryl Davis and the Snow Hill Blues Jam All Stars, which includes vocalist Margo Resto and instrumentalists Angel Resto, Mike Armstrong and Burley Strand.
According to Ann Coates of Snow Hill’s Art and Entertainment District, the event usually holds three headliners but this year they minimized it to two so guests would have more time to enjoy the music.
“This gives people a chance to really listen to these two groups with a good amount of time,” she said. “And then at the end of the evening they jam an all-out jam.”
Davis is a vocalist, guitarist, composer and keyboard extraordinaire, as well as a professional actor and author. He has worked with others such as Muddy Waters Legendary Blues Band, Chuck Berry, Elvis Presley's Jordanaires and The Coasters.
“He has played in Ocean City in the past … he is really quite accomplished,” Coates said. “The interesting thing for us is he was in Ocean City playing some years ago when he met Margo Resto … and encouraged her and gave her a start, she has this fabulous voice so it’s a reunion of sorts for them.”
The event raises funds to go towards Snow Hill’s art and entertainment events downtown. The committee is already planning 2012’s major headliner and Blues Jam.
The Chamber of Commerce will have a cash bar available and Tommy Mason will be on site selling his famous barbeque.
There will be a 50/50 raffle and a Chinese auction that raises funds for the maintenance of town plantings and future arts and entertainment events in Snow Hill as well.
Tickets are $20 per person and a limited amount will be available at the door. There are only 300 tickets available and the last few years have sold out. Tickets can be purchased online at www.sharpworks.org.
