OCEAN CITY - Putting to rest any discussion to the contrary, County Commissioner Louise Gulyas said this week she plans to seek a fourth term representing Ocean City at the county level.
Although Gulyas' term does not expire until 2010, a recent report on possible replacements for her seat encouraged her to make the announcement early.
'I am running because I really enjoy what I do. I want to finish the things I have started. I got a new library for Ocean City and I want to make sure the schools are finished,' Gulyas said. 'We're going to get a new senior center in Berlin, and I want to make sure the senior center in Ocean City is updated. There's a few things I would like to see completed before I retire. Plus, I love it and I enjoy representing the people. It really makes me feel good and gives me something to look forward to and keeps my mind moving.'
Gulyas, 74, acknowledged there may be some voters who feel she has overstayed her welcome, alluding to the fact some favor term limits.
'I don't know if the people will love me for a fourth term. The voters will decide that and 99 percent of the time I would say they make the right decision,' Gulyas said.
