BERLIN- The Stephen Decatur varsity and junior varsity golf teams last week put the wraps on their 2010 seasons with the annual player/parent tournament at Eagle’s Landing followed by an awards ceremony and banquet.
The Seahawk golf teams began the day with the 11th Annual Player-Parent tournament at Eagle’s Landing. For the record, senior Jake Miller and his father Dave Miller won the annual event and earned bragging rights and their names engraved on a plaque displayed in the school’s trophy case. Second place went to junior Nikki Rafer and her father Mike Rafer.
After the tournament, the teams convened at Pepper’s Tavern in West Ocean City for the annual awards banquet. For the varsity team, Jake Miller was named Most Valuable Player, Nicole Rafer was named Most Improved, Michelle Ott earned the Coach’s Award, Joe Iacona earned the Sportsmanship Award, Kate Kotoski earned the Best Attitude Award, Connor Gebhart was named Most Consistent, and Gabrielle Anthony was named 1st Homecoming Princess Golfer.
For the junior varsity, Mia Carlotta was Most Valuable Player, Chase Eslin was Most Improved, Audrey Affelder was Most Consistent, Matt Ruggiere earned the Coach’s Award, Hunter Dortenzo earned the Sportsmanship Award, and Andrew Urban was recognized for shooting the lowest nine-hole score of the season.
