NEW FOR TUESDAY: Wal-Mart Evacuation Due To Bomb Threat

BERLIN -- The Wal-Mart on Route 50 near Berlin was evacuated last night when local law enforcement agencies responded to a reported bomb threat at the store.

Around 7 p.m. on Monday, Maryland State Police troopers responded to the Wal-Mart on Route 50 for a reported bomb threat. Officers immediately evacuated the store with assistance from the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office, the Ocean City Police Department and the Berlin Police Department.

Explosive-sniffing K-9 dogs from the Worcester County, Wicomico County and Dorchester County Sheriff’s Offices were utilized, along with members of the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office, to render the building safe. A criminal investigation is being conducted by the Worcester County Bureau of Investigation (WCBI).
