WEST OCEAN CITY- Young wrestlers from the Eastern Shore Intensive Wrestling Club, based in West Ocean City, turned in strong performances at a Maryland State Wrestling Association qualifying event at Mount St. Joseph High School last weekend, collecting a handful of championships and placing in several other categories.
The Eastern Shore Intensive Wrestling Club, under the direction of Coach Keith Tobin and his staff, provides young grapplers in the area with training and mentoring all year around in an effort to provide them with a foundation for future success. Throughout the year, the club’s wrestlers travel all over the Eastern Shore and beyond to compete in various tournaments and state competitions.
Last weekend, the ESIWC traveled to Mount St. Joseph for a qualifying event for the state championships in February and returned home with several medals. Andy McKahan, Logan Tapman and Spencer Kaminski each won their respective age and weight division titles, while Jagger Clapsadle finished second, Noah Reho finished fourth and Robert Kaminski finished fourth.
For McKahan, the first-place finish last weekend came on the heels of a second-place finish at a meet at Sussex Central earlier this month. Clapsadle captured a first-place finish at the Sussex Central meet, to go along with a second-place finish and three third-place finishes at events throughout the winter. Reho, meanwhile, has collected two firsts and two thirds at meets throughout the region this month.
Anthony Caruso has always enjoyed a big month, collecting three first-place finishes at events at Landon, Laurel and Sussex Central. Nico D’Amico also collected a first-place finish at Landon. At a future’s meet in Mardela earlier this month, Alex Koulikov and Patrick Miller each collected second-place finishes.
