Bennett Chasing Perfect Season, State Title

5/25/2012 | By Shawn J. Soper, Sports Editor

SALISBURY- Bennett’s varsity baseball team this week continued its magical run to a second state championship and a second perfect season in a row.

The Clippers ran the table last year, going a perfect 19-0 and capturing the state Class 3A championship. This season, Bennett picked up where it left off, going unbeaten in the regular season and running off four straight wins in the state playoffs to earn a date with North Harford tomorrow in the state championship game.

Bennett beat Reservoir last weekend to win the region title, then beat last year’s runner-up La Plata, 6-1, this week to return to the state championship game tomorrow against North Harford. After going 19-0 last season, the Clippers have won 21 in a row this year to reach the title game again.
