Decatur Track Scores Well in Home Meet

BERLIN- Decatur’s outdoor track and field teams scored well with top finishers in nearly every event at the meet they hosted last week.

In the boys’ 110 high hurdles, Greg Petersen was second, Spenser Cardenas was fourth and Lucas Duker was fifth. Jakai Woodard finished fourth in the 100. Nick Molitor finished second in the 1,600, while Lance Ward was third and Kevin Herbert was fifth. Christopher David was second in the 400, while Daniel Winters was fifth and Billy Caton was sixth. Molitor was second in the 3,200, while Ben Rakowski was fourth and Herbert was sixth.

James Phillips was fifth in the 300 hurdles, while Tyler Coppinger was sixth. Cardenas finished fourth in the 200 for Decatur. In the 800, Decatur’s Christopher David was first, Daniel Winters was second, Lance Ward was third and Alex Belardo was fifth. The Decatur boys finished third in the 4x400, second in the 4x800, and first in the 4x3200.

In the field events, Woodard was second in the long jump, while Cardenas was third. Petersen finished first in the high jump, while Duker was fourth. Tashawn Collins, Zachary Watters and Sonny Aroh went one, two and three in the pole vault. Nick Craven finished second in the shot put, while Connor Neville was third and Patrick Phillips was fifth. Brandon Storm was second in the discus, while Phillips was fourth. Cardenas was third in the triple jump for Decatur.

In the girls’ 100-meter high hurdles, Decatur’s Jessica Galuardi was first, Emily Kolarik was fourth and Bianca Alvarado was fifth. In the 100, Rebecca Lederman was fourth, Amari Harmon was sixth and Katie Purnell was seventh. In the girls’ 1,600, Decatur’s Chloe FauntLeroy and Lauren Buckman finished first and second respectively. In the 400, Rayvn Saunders finished first and Elizabeth Rougcher was seventh.

In the girls’ 3,200, Lauren Buckman, Jenna Abbaticchio and Anastasia Priest swept the top three sports. Galuardi finished third in the 300 hurdles, while Kolarik was sixth. Lederman finished fourth in the 200. The Decatur girls also did well in the relays, finishing first in the 4x1600, first in the 4x400 and second in the 4x800.

The Decatur girls also did well in the field events. In the shot put, for example, Ameerah Lewis finished first, Antonia Green was third, Erika Henry was fourth and Daryus Wise was fifth. In the girls’ high jump, Alexandra Saunders, Katie Purnell and Hannah Wilson finished first, second and third. In the pole vault, Kacie Moore, Ashley Hrebik and Ravyn Saunders swept the top three spots. Lewis was second in the discus, while Henry was third. In the triple jump, Purnell was first and Alexandra Saunders was fourth. Katie Purnell finished first in the long jump, while Buckman was third.
