Local Players Lead Bayside South Upset

12/18/2009 | By Shawn J. Soper, Sports Editor

BERLIN- A pair of Worcester County standout football players helped the Bayside South upset the Bayside North, 34-28, last week in the annual Eastern Shore Senior All-Star game.

The Bayside South entered the annual All-Star contest as the decided underdog to the Bayside North, which boasted the top three teams in the conference overall this year. However, further evidence of why the game is played on the field and not on paper was provided when the South upset the North thanks to a big contribution from two local players.

Decatur quarterback Andrew Brickey led the Bayside South offense, completing of nine of 21 pass attempts for 204 yards. Brickey also threw for one touchdown and ran for another. Bayside South's dominant rushing attack was led by Snow Hill senior Deron Ames, who ran for 81 yards on 21 carries including a touchdown.
