OCEAN CITY- Ocean City’s own Mike Hedlesky turned in a strong performance at the Maryland State Powerlifting Championships last weekend, winning several individual honors and collecting three new state records.
Hedlesky, who has been powerlifting for a while but has battled injuries recently, competed in the state championships in Laurel, Md. last Saturday for the first time in the raw super-heavyweight division and won best lifter and best lifter by body weight coefficient to 280 pounds. Hedlesky also broke three Maryland state records with a 640-pound squat and a 750-pound deadlift, which, coupled with his 425-pound bench press gave him a record 1,815 combined weight.
