Pop Warner Seahawks Improve to 3-3

BERLIN- The Berlin Seahawks' pee wee team scored a come-from-behind 24-6 win over the Lower Sussex Indians last weekend to improve to 3-3 on the season.

The Seahawk pee wee team, ages 9-12, trailed early in the game, 6-0, before getting the running game cranked up and pulling away for the win. After spotting Lower Sussex an early 6-0 lead, the Seahawks' defense, led by Richard Mumford, Logan Smith and James Furst, shut the Indians down the rest of the way and let the offense take care of business.

Berlin's Billy Caton started the Seahawks' scoring barrage with a 47-yard touchdown run down the sideline. Berlin's Josh King also broke a long run for a touchdown in the first half.

In the second half, Berlin picked up where it left off when Joe Flounlacker ran off tackle and scampered 25 yards for the Seahawks' third touchdown. King got Berlin's fourth and final touchdown in the fourth quarter, using great moves and breaking tackles to score a 60-yard touchdown.

The win over Lower Sussex got the Seahawks back to .500 at 3-3 on the season. Berlin will face the Smyrna Eagles at home tomorrow at noon.

In other Berlin Pop Warner football news, the Seahawks cheerleaders competed in a regional competition at the Salisbury Civic Center last Sunday and advanced to teams to sectional competition later this month. The pee wee team, ages 9-12, took second-place in the small novice division to advance to the sectional competition in Trenton, N.J. on October 27. The Seahawks' midget team, ages 12-15, also took second in the small intermediate division to advance to the sectionals in Trenton on October 28.
