BERLIN - Rite Aid Corporation and Atlantic General Hospital and Health System have announced the openings of Atlantic ImmediCare clinics inside three Rite Aid stores in Ocean Pines, Pocomoke City and Millsboro, Del. The clinics, which are now open daily, provide extended hours for care in the evening and on weekends.
At the Atlantic ImmediCare clinics, certified nurse practitioners under the guidance of Medical Director Nicholas Borodulia, MD, provide patients with quality care for common illnesses such as strep throat, ear infections, pink eye, tick bites, flu, bladder infections, bronchitis and allergies, as well as school and employer physicals, laboratory tests, adult immunizations and health screenings.
With "no appointment necessary, walk-in convenience" from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, the clinics are open to anyone and also provide direct access to more specialized and acute treatment options at Atlantic General Hospital.
The Atlantic ImmediCare clinics in select Rite Aid locations are especially beneficial to those who are already patients of any of the existing providers within Atlantic General Health System because of the use of electronic medical records.
Upon arrival at the Atlantic ImmediCare clinic, patients can sign in via a computer kiosk, noting on the electronic medical record their symptoms and personal health information typically collected during an appointment.
With the patient's permission, Atlantic ImmediCare can provide treatment information to the patient's primary care provider to ensure continuity of care. Because of the affiliation with the hospital and health system, records of Atlantic ImmediCare visits for individuals who are existing patients of an Atlantic General Health System provider will be available immediately to that provider through the electronic medical record, ensuring a continuous, up-to-date medical history and more comprehensive care.
Regardless of whom a patient sees regularly, the electronic system will store the information from their visit for easy recall and updating should they return for future visits.
To keep costs reasonable, Atlantic ImmediCare does not accept insurance, requiring payment at the time of the visit. A basic office visit is $49. The necessary supporting documents are provided to patients, however, so they can file for insurance reimbursement. For Medicare patients, a claim will be filed and reimbursement from Medicare will be sent directly to the patient or policyholder.
