BERLIN- Stephen Decatur’s varsity cross country teams turned in strong performances at the Bayside Conference Championships last week with several Seahawks finishing among the top runners.
The Decatur boys’ varsity team finished fourth overall out of the 11 teams in the Bayside Championships with several individual runners turning in strong times. Nick Molitor was the first Seahawks across the finish line at the cross country course at Cambridge-South Dorchester, also known as the Jungle, finishing 14th overall out of the 86 competitors in the field. Dan Winters was 15th, followed by Kevin Herbert (30), Jake Gaddis (32), Noah McAleer (33) and John Niefeldt (59).
The Decatur girls finished fifth overall out of the eight teams in the field. Lauren Buckman turned in the top Seahawk performance, finishing in 25th place among the 65 competitors. Other top Decatur finishers included Alex Saunders (25), Jordan Klebe (32) and Calais Rodriguez (44).
