OCEAN CITY- The fall rockfish bite in and around the resort area has suddenly heated up just in time for the 11th Annual Rocktoberfest Tournament expected to get underway tomorrow afternoon.

The 11th Annual Rocktoberfest Tournament, hosted by Bahia Marina, is the resort area's only 24-hour fishing tournament with teams of angler competing around the clock if they so desire from 4 p.m. on Saturday to 4 p.m. on Sunday. As the name suggests, rockfish are the targeted species for the tournament, although prizes will be awarded in several other categories including flounder, trout, taug and bluefish. Prizes will be awarded to the heaviest fish weighed in each category.

The fishing boundaries for the tournament run from the Verrazano Bridge at Assateague to the south and the Fenwick Ditch near the Delaware line to the south and three miles out into the ocean. After the 24-hour fishing period expires on Sunday, the tournament will conclude with an awards banquet at Bahia Marina on Sunday evening featuring a pig roast and bonfire on the beach.
