BERLIN- Both of Stephen Decatur's suddenly red-hot varsity basketball teams wrapped their regular seasons with strong finishes last week and now await their post-season fates as seedings for the regional and state tournaments will be announced this weekend.
The Seahawk boys beat Parkside, 52-37, last Friday in their regular season finale to complete an amazing run. Decatur won its last four games and five of its last six, gaining some momentum going into the state regionals after struggling for most of the year.
Meanwhile, the Decatur girls ended their regular season with a 59-27 loss to Parkside last Friday, but finished strong, winning four of their last five games and five of seven down the stretch. Both Decatur teams will learn their post-season fates when state playoff seedings are announced on Sunday.
