Seahawks Blast Wicomico, Pocomoke

4/20/2012 | By Shawn J. Soper, Sports Editor

BERLIN- After relinquishing its perfect season and a grasp on the top spot in the Bayside South standings with a 4-0 loss to Bennett last week, Stephen Decatur’s varsity baseball team responded by beating its next two opponents by a combined score of 45-1.

The Seahawks fell to Bennett last Wednesday in a highly anticipated matchup of Bayside South. On Thursday, Decatur thrashed Wicomico, 17-0 and followed that win up with a 28-1 pasting of Pocomoke on Tuesday. Decatur had beaten Pocomoke at home earlier in the season by a score of 35-1. Against the Warriors on Tuesday, Steve Ruggiere had three hits including a home run, while Mike O’Neill had two hits and a homer. Justin Meekins, Teron Tyre and Noah McAleer each had two hits. James Dibuo got the win, striking out eight.
