BERLIN- Worcester Prep's girls' varsity soccer team appears poised for another great season with veteran leadership and good depth at nearly every position.
Absent a junior varsity team this year, Worcester Prep will carry as many as 30 players on its varsity roster this season, providing longtime coach Carol Hartnet with an ample arsenal of talented players as the Mallards attempt to return to the ESIAC championship. Hartnet will draw on veteran returning players and a flock of baby Mallards moving up from the middle school program as she guides Worcester through a difficult schedule this fall.
Sophomore Marissa Grimes will start in goal and will be fronted by a talented group of defenders including Anna and Sophie Townsend. The Mallards should be tough in the middle with returning players Caroline Wyatt, Hilary Roughton and Erin Ternahan. Up front, Worcester will rely on forwards Tori Dickerson, Caitlin Whalen and Jackie Wangel to put the ball in the net.
