OCEAN CITY - Resort police last month made a pair of prostitution arrests in Ocean City after discovering several listings by woman offering erotic services in the area on the Internet.
Early last month, resort police received several calls about prostitution occurring in Ocean City after which an OCPD undercover officer discovered prostitution advertising on the Internet. On the websites, the working girls offered to meet interested parties in Ocean City for erotic services at a price.
On Sept. 8, the OCPD undercover detective contacted one of the women advertising prostitution on the Internet websites. The suspect, later identified as Theresa Maria Amoroso, 31, or Narberth, Pa. told the detective she would meet him at a pre-arranged location in Ocean City on Sept. 12. Resort police are withholding the name of the hotel or motel chosen because the facility's owners are working with them on the investigation.
Amoroso told the detective her services would cost him $300 for one hour or $500 for two hours. At the pre-arranged time, the detective met Amoroso in the lobby of a local hotel, and after a few minutes, the two went upstairs to a room rented by the OCPD.
Once inside, Amoroso was arrested and charged with prostitution. Amoroso later told investigators she had been to Ocean City three separate times over the course of the summer and each time made at least $5,000. Amoroso failed to appear for her initial court date and a bench warrant was sworn out for her arrest in the amount of $10,000. Her trial date is set for Nov. 7 in District Court in Ocean City.
As part of the ongoing investigation, OCPD detectives discovered another woman advertising erotic services in Ocean City on the Internet. The detectives contacted the suspect, later identified as Jaclyn Marie Hallman, 22, of Laurel, Md. via email on Sept. 15 and Hallman responded she would be available in Ocean City on the next day. She informed the officer her rates were $350 per hour.
The detective met Hallman at the appointed time in a resort hotel lobby and the pair went up to a room rented by the OCPD. Hallman was also placed under arrest and charged with prostitution. She later told police she had done this 10 times before in Ocean City, earning $350 each time.
On Sept. 16, Hallman was released on a $3,500 bond. Her trial is set for Dec. 12 in District Court in Ocean City.
