15th Santa's Open on Tap

BERLIN- The 15th Annual Santa's Open Golf Tournament at River Run, benefiting Big Brothers/Big Sisters, will be held tomorrow and it's not too late for local golf enthusiasts to sign up to participate in the holiday event. There are still openings for the Santa's Open tournament, an annual charity event held at River Run near Ocean Pines. Decatur's Justice Signs with Catawba

BERLIN- Stephen Decatur standout Alli Justice this week became the latest Seahawk scholar-athlete to earn the opportunity to take her game to the next level, signing a letter of intent to accept and athletic and academic scholarship to play softball and field hockey at Catawba College next year. Justice's main sport at Decatur was softball, where she grew to be a dominant pitcher on the mound and an equally impressive player at the plate for the Seahawks. OCEAN CITY- The first annual Black Friday 550 Rockfish Tournament held last weekend out of the Ocean City Fishing Center was a big hit dozens of big stripers brought in and $4,700 in prize money doled out. The first annual Black Friday rockfish tournament was held last Friday and Saturday as an alternative to fighting crowds and holiday shopping. Decatur Girls' Hoops Gets a Makeover BERLIN- After several years of relative continuity, the Stephen Decatur girls' varsity basketball team will get a big makeover of sorts this season with a new head coach at the helm and a bunch of new names and faces up and down the roster. OCEAN CITY- The Greene Turtle Girls' Lacrosse Club is holding tryouts for the 2008 season tomorrow at the Crown Sports Center in Salisbury beginning at 10 a.m. The club is looking for girls who are interested in playing competitive tournament lacrosse against some of the best club teams on the east coast.
