Leadership Plan Approved
SALIBURY - At the Peninsula Regional Medical Center Board of Trustees meeting held this week, the Board unanimously approved the Executive Committee's recommendation to move forward with an executive leadership succession plan put in place five years ago.
According to Farouk Sultani, MD, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, 'When Peggy Naleppa, Executive Vice President/COO, joined the organization it was felt that her credentials, experience and leadership qualities would eventually position her to succeed Alan Newberry, President/CEO, as the top executive of Peninsula Regional Medical Center and the Peninsula Regional Health System. Since that time Naleppa and Newberry have worked collaboratively in leading and managing the day-to-day operations as well as planning for the future of both organizations. Newberry has done an excellent job in preparing her to ascend to leadership and now, upon his recommendation, the Board is entering the next phase of a carefully planned succession period. We are fortunate to have an individual of Naleppa's caliber to continue Newberry's example of dedication and leadership during this exciting time in the history of both organizations.'
In order to proceed with that plan and begin the formal transition of leadership for both the Peninsula Regional Medical Center and the Peninsula Regional Health System, the Board of Trustees unanimously elected Naleppa to become President/COO of Peninsula Regional Medical Center, effective Jan. 1, 2009. At that time, Newberry's title will remain CEO of Peninsula Regional Medical Center and President/CEO of the Peninsula Regional Health System. During this period, Naleppa will continue to report to Newberry until his planned retirement at the end of 2009. Effective Jan. 1, 2010, Naleppa will become President/CEO of both Peninsula Regional Medical Center and the Peninsula Regional Health System.
'The time is right for this process to begin. Peggy has outstanding qualifications as well as the confidence and support of the medical community, employees, volunteers and her peers in both organizations,' said Newberry. 'In January of 2009 this change will begin the seamless transition of leadership for our organizations and complete the process leading up to my retirement as CEO of Peninsula Regional Medical Center and President/CEO of the Peninsula Regional Health System.'
As Executive Vice President/Chief Operating Officer for the past five years Naleppa has been an integral part of the leadership team guiding the day-to-day operations of the Medical Center, providing oversight of the $100 million dollar expansion project, service excellence and patient satisfaction initiatives and planning for the future of both organizations.
Taylor Bank Addition
BERLIN - Raymond M. Thompson, President and C.E.O. of Calvin B. Taylor Banking Company, has announced that Alysson Smith has joined the Taylor Bank staff as a Personnel and Benefits Administrator.
Smith graduated from Salisbury University in the fall of 2007 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management, with a concentration in Human Resources Management. She was the President of SU's Student Society for Human Resource Management and now serves on the Eastern Shore Society for HR Management and is studying for her Professional of Human Resources designation.

Wilson Qualifies For Award
OCEAN CITY - Della Wilson, with Re/Max Premier Properties, has qualified for the Re/Max Platinum Club Award for 2007, which honors successful agents who have earned at least $250,000 in commissions in the past year. In 2007, only four percent of all Re/Max associates were presented with the Platinum Club Award.
Wilson has been working in the real estate industry for more than five years and has extensive experience in residential properties, commercial properties and new construction projects. Her achievements include induction into the Re/Max Hall of Fame 2008 and being named Top 25 Agent in 2006 and 2007.

New Board Member
SALISBURY - Herbert J. Geary, III, CPA, CGFM was recently elected to serve a three-year term on both the Peninsula Regional Health System and Peninsula Regional Medical Center Board of Trustees. Geary is co-founder of the public accounting firm Trice Geary & Myers LLC of Salisbury.
Geary re-located to Wicomico County in 1988 after a successful accounting career in Baltimore. He and partner Tom Trice purchased and formed their current business in 1993. Geary holds a Bachelor of Business Administration and Accounting from Loyola College in Baltimore.
At Trice Geary & Myers LLC, he heads up the Accounting and Auditing Department with an expertise in banking, closely held businesses, manufacturing, wholesalers/distributors, construction and mechanical contractors, employee benefit plans, local governments, boards of education and non-profit organizations.
