OCEAN CITY - The Ocean City Hotel-Motel-Restaurant Association-sponsored scholarships were awarded during the February dinner meeting last week at the Princess Royale Hotel.
Diane Redman received the Kate Bunting Wor-Wic Community College Memorial Scholarship, named after one of the founding members of the OCHMRA. Michelle Sprague, a hard worker and student in pursuit of employment in the hospitality industry, received the OCHMRA Ken Barnett Memorial Scholarship. Parkside High School graduate Hillary Sherman was selected for the OCHMRA University of Maryland Eastern Shore's Hotel & Restaurant Program Scholarship.
A new scholarship has been named for a second generation board member who passed away unexpectedly last summer. The John 'Tres' Lynch, III Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Wor-Wic culinary student Ron Brose.
BERLIN - The Eastern Shore Building Industry Association would like to announce the election of its Executive Committee and Directors for 2009.
Executive Committee named were President Don Messick, Messick, Inc.; First Vice President John Kotoski, River Run Development Associates; Second Vice President Michael DeChant, DeChant Appraisals & Realty; Associate Vice President Rod Flowers, SunTrust Mortgage; Secretary Jeremy Crawford, Bradco Supply Company; Immediate Past President John Capozzi, Capozzi Construction.
Directors named were Dennis Brilliant, GFL Roofing; Michael Carey, Harbourside Homes; Paul Coleman, Guardian Home Technologies; Colleen Deptula, Beach Construction; Larry Gehring, Reeb Millwork; Greg Griesser, Messick Inc.; Sam Hobbs, Delaware Lumber & Millwork; and Barry Waterman, Waterman Realty.

Top Sales Associate Named
BERLIN - Jenny Sheppard, sales manager for Sheppard Realty, Inc. in Berlin, recently recognized Malia Ricks as the top sales associate for the month of February.
