BERLIN - The Farmers Bank of Willards has announced Mary Dryden has completed the Certified Community Bank Compliance Officer Program and that Shannon Malin has been promoted to head teller at its newest branch.
Dryden, compliance officer for the Farmers Bank of Willards, has successfully completed the Certified Community Bank Compliance Officer Program, sponsored by the Independent Community Bankers of America (ICBA). To earn this certification she successfully completed four ICBA seminars and passed a comprehensive examination in each of the areas covered in the seminars. She has worked for Farmers Bank since March of 1991 and has held several positions.
Malin will serve as head teller at the bank's newest location at 200 S. Philadelphia Ave. in Ocean City. She has been working at the Farmers Bank of Willards' West Ocean City branch for four years.
AGH Head Elected Chair
BERLIN - Michael A. Franklin, FACHE, president and CEO of Atlantic General Hospital, was elected to the Maryland Hospital Association's Executive Committee and to chair of the PRIME Board of Directors on June 11 at the association's annual membership meeting.
Franklin serves on the Board of Directors of PRIME, MHA's shared services/group purchasing affiliate, and on the Blood Bank of Delmarva. He also is a founding and current member of Maryland eCare.
Franklin joined Atlantic General Hospital as president and CEO in October 2005. He has over 20 years experience in health care leadership. Franklin is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives.
This is Franklin's first term as chair of the PRIME Board of Directors and as an MHA Executive Committee member. He will serve a one-year term, after which he will be eligible for re-election to two additional one-year terms in that position.

BERLIN - Millville By The Sea is quickly fulfilling its promise to become 'Delaware's next great beach town' with their biggest new homes sales month ever.
To celebrate their first full year on the market, the developers initiated several new home sales incentives worth as much as $50,000. Fifteen new homeowners have taken advantage of this incredible offer since June 1.
Dozens of homeowners have already moved in and the first of many neighborhood pools opened Memorial Day weekend. Millville By The Sea is quickly taking shape as the Delaware beach resort community of choice, according to a press release.

OCDC Board Named
OCEAN CITY - The Ocean City Development Corporation's Board of Directors has selected its new Executive Board for the coming year.
The newly selected OCDC officials, titles, and businesses are Greg Shockley, president, Shenanigan's Irish Pub and Grill; Robert Givarz, vice president, Alaska Stand; Todd Ferrante, treasurer, Park Place Jewelers; Charles Barrett, secretary, Inn on the Ocean; and Jay Knerr, past president, Kite Loft.
The OCDC is a nonprofit corporation charged with revitalizing downtown Ocean City.
Bank Donation Supports Program
BERLIN - Calvin B. Taylor Bank President Ray Thompson and Assistant Vice President Wes McCabe presented a check for $1,000 to Ocean Pines Golf & Country Club at the Calvin B. Taylor Scramble held at Ocean Pines June 24. Taylor Bank reached out to the Ocean Pines community through golf 25 years ago and has supported junior golf since the program began.
The junior golf program that the donation supports is managed by Ocean Pines Golf and member golfers. The program includes clinics for junior golfers held through July 24. Participants meet at the Ocean Pines driving range Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5-6:30.
The junior golf effort also includes a Junior Golf Invitational Tournament, scheduled this year for July 29. Competitions are held for three, six, nine and 18 holes depending on the age of the competitors. Chipping and putting contests are included. A dinner and awards ceremony follows the tournament. Entry forms for the tournament are available at the clinics and at the Ocean Pines Pro Shop.
SALISBURY - Peninsula Regional Medical Center, a 362-bed tertiary care facility in Salisbury, has announced that it has received the 2009/2010 Women's Health Excellence Award•„¢ from HealthGrades, the nation's leading independent healthcare ratings organization, based on a newly released study of patient outcomes.
The award ranks Peninsula Regional among the top 5% of all United States hospitals for Women's Health, and places it among an elite group of only 169 American hospitals to have earned and achieved this national distinction.
Peninsula Regional Medical Center is the only hospital or medical center in the state of Maryland and the Washington, DC region to be awarded the HealthGrades 2009/2010 Women's Health Excellence Award•„¢.
