Charles B. Bohner
OCEAN CITY - Charles B. Bohner, age 69, passed as gently as the life he lived on Thursday, Dec. 10, 2009 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury.Born in Kansas City, Mo., he was the son of the late Woodrow Bohner and Blanche Brosius Bohner.
Bohner was a U.S. Navy veteran. He had worked as a manager for the Liquor Control Board in Pennsylvania until his early retirement at the age of 52. He had resided in Ephreta, Pa. and Lancaster, Pa. and enjoyed visiting Ocean City since 1981. In 2004, Bohner moved to Ocean City to live permanently.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Bohner; a step-son, Dale Feliciello; step-daughters, Kim Willing and Jennifer Dreher; and a brother, Woodrow Bohner, Jr. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Jane Feliciello, and a sister, Mary Bowman.
Services were held. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Coastal Hospice, PO Box 1733, Salisbury, Md. 21801 or to the Atlantic Club, PO Box 563, Ocean City, Md. 21842. Arrangements are being handled by the Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin.
John H. McAleer
BERLIN - John "Jack" H. McAleer, age 83, died on Friday, Dec. 11, 2009 at his home in Berlin.
Born in Philadelphia, Pa., he was the son of the late Arthur F. McAleer and Marguerite Blessing McAleer.McAleer was a WWII veteran having served in the Army Air Corp and later
in the National Guard. He had worked for many years as a superintendent with A.J. Ellis Construction Company. He was a dedicated member of St. John Neuman Catholic Church in Ocean Pines and a member of the Knights ofColumbus.
He is survived by his wife, Rose Mary McAleer; 10 children, J. Kevin McAleer and his wife Jennifer, Thomas M. McAleer, Patrick B. McAleer and his wife Sally, Janet M. Bradford and her husband Alan, Andrew J. McAleer and his wife Barbara, James A. McAleer, Robert F. McAleer and his wife Kathy, Michael A. McAleer and his wife Angela, Stephen J. McAleer and his wife Beverly, and Kathlee M. McAleer-Lorance and her husband Keith; two brothers, Francis R. McAleer and Gerald McAllen; one sister, Rita Rider; 31 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.Services were held. Arrangements are being handled by the Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin.
Sandra Kay Elburn
BERLIN - Sandra Kay Elburn, age 65, died on Sunday, Dec. 13, 2009 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.
Born in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Robert Simmont and Mary Jarrell Simmont.
Elburn worked as a registered nurse in the home health care system and at health facilities across the Delmarva peninsula. She enjoyed traveling and especially enjoyed visiting her son in Spain, traveling across country by car with another son, and taking cruises with friends. She enjoyed visiting New York and loved Broadway shows. She was a member of Buckingham Presbyterian Church in Berlin where she was a member of the choir, helped in the organization of events and had been working toward becoming a Lay Pastor. In her free time, she loved to sew, mostly Pennsylvania Dutch style quilts and was an avid reader. Christmas was her favorite time of year. She was an independent woman, sensitive and caring about everyone she touched: She was a healer of body and soul.
She is survived by the three sons she cherished above all else: Robert Eugene Elburn of Waynesboro, Pa., Frederick Owen Elburn of Las Palmas, Spain, and Michael John Elburn of Zullinger, Pa.; her nieces, Serena Janovsky and Debbie Dundore; her friend and sister in life, Judy Maurer of Berlin; her good friend Patricia Shepherd of Showell; and many other nieces, nephews and a number of grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, Dec. 18, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Buckingham Presbyterian Church, 20 S. Main St., Berlin, Md. 21811. Rev. Dr. Kay Myers will officiate. Interment will be on Saturday, Dec. 19, 2009 at 1 p.m. at Maple Grove Cemetery, RD 3, Hunlocks Creek, Pikes Creek, Pa. 18621.
Eleanor A. Bruehl
BERLIN - Eleanor Ayres Breuhl , age 96, died peacefully at home on Dec. 15, 2009.
She was the daughter of the late Thomas Harvey Davis and Lula Burbage Davis of Berlin. She is survived by a granddaughter, Susan Ayres Wimbrow and husband Maury of Berlin; a brother, Franklin Davis; a close sister-in-law, Hilda S. Ayers; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, James A. Ayres, and a second husband , John T. Bruehl, Jr. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Ann Ayres Bannon in 1961. Bruehl owned and operated the Ayres Rental Properties. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Worcester parish.
Funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in her memory to Coastal Hospice, PO Box 1733, Salisbury, Md. 21801.

Nellie G. Bradford
BERLIN - Nellie G. Bradford, 81, of Dagsboro, Del. passed away on Monday, Dec. 14, 2009 at Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin.
Bradford was born on Aug. 15, 1928 in Brookside, W.Va. to the late Calvin S. and Hester L. Sell Wotring.
Bradford and her husband owned and operated several Sub House, Inc. restaurants in the area before her retirement. She loved to write songs and poetry, loved to sing, and loved going home to 'Almost Heaven' the mountains of West Virginia.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, John Bradford, Sr.; three sons, John Bradford, Jr. and his wife Valerie of Millsboro, William Bradford and wife Sharon of Millsboro, and Robert W. Bradford and wife Keri D. of Dagsboro; two daughters, Linda D. West and husband Ronald Lee of Georgetown and Pat Eitner and husband Tim of Georgetown; four brothers, Bud Wotring and wife Ruby, Richard Wotring, Cecil Wotring, and Wayne Wotring and wife Ruth, all of West Virginia; a sister, Jessie Gengy of Oakland, Md.; two brothers-in-law, George and Ted Bradford; two sisters-in-law, Hilda Bradford and Delores Russell; 12 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon McGinnis, in 2007, and two brothers, Robert and Bubbles, in addition to her parents.
A service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 18 at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 South Washington Street, Millsboro, Del., where friends may arrive an hour prior the service. Interment will be at the Carey's Cemetery near Millsboro following the service.
