BERLIN- Stephen Decatur's varsity wrestling team stayed on a roll last week, thrashing Kent Island, 62-6, after winning 13 of 14 matches.
The Seahawks prepped for this week's big conference showdown against Parkside by taking care of Kent Island in short order. Matt Meekins won his match be decision at 103 pounds, Seth Goggin won by technical fall at 125, Corbin Lohnas won by technical fall at 130, and Devin Bataille won a major decision at 135.
Johnny Soghomonian kept the Seahawks going with a technical fall win at 140, Josh Bargar won a major decision at 152, C.J. Mitchell won by forfeit at 145, Bryce Smith kept his hot streak going with a win by decision at 160, Mike Baglieri scored a major decision at 171, Mike Meekins won by pin at 189. Luke Bargar won by pin at 215, and Dylan Drew completed a run of pins by Decatur wrestlers with a big win at 285.
Decatur was scheduled to wrestle western shore powerhouse Reservoir last Saturday, but the match was postponed because of the snowstorm. In addition, Wednesday's scheduled match against Parkside was postponed because Wicomico County schools were closed a third day. The Seahawks are scheduled to wrestle a dual meet against Easton and North Caroline today, weather permitting.
