BERLIN- The 3rd Annual Reindeer Run 5K, sponsored by Live Long Fitness, is set to return on December 17 with an early morning start time through downtown Berlin.
The annual race, which has become a fixture on the local holiday schedule since its inception three years ago, starts and finishes at the Atlantic Hotel with the course winding its way through the heart of the downtown area. The course heads down Main Street around the Worcester Prep campus and the Northern Worcester County Athletic Complex before finishing back in front of the hotel on Main Street.
Last year, 141 runners from all over the region competed in the annual event. Berlin’s Dave Rovansek finished first overall, while Melissa Denault, also of Berlin, was sixth overall and was the top female finisher. With the town decorated, the event is a perfect kick-off to the holiday season. As an added bonus this year, jingle bells will be distributed to the runners to attach to their shoes during the race, which adds to the festivities.
In addition, the Atlantic Hotel is offering a 20-percent discount to participants staying at the establishment. The Reindeer Run 5K starts at 9 a.m., while the One-Mile Fun Run starts at 10 a.m. Registration for both events closes on Thursday, December 15.
