Worcester Boys Fall in ESIAC Title Game

BERLIN- Worcester Prep’s boys’ varsity soccer team mounted a big comeback attempt against Salisbury Christian last Friday in the Eastern Shore Independent Athletic Conference (ESIAC) tournament final, but fell short and lost to the Jaguars, 3-2.

The Mallards cruised past Holly Grove last Wednesday, 3-0, in the ESIAC semifinals to set up a date with Salisbury Christian on the road in the championship game last Friday. Worcester Prep fell behind early, 3-0, after Salisbury Christian goals by J.T. Spadin, Cole Lambrose and Brady Osman and it appeared the Jags would cruise to the title until the Mallards mounted a furious comeback.

Worcester got on the board late in the first half on a header by Ryan Nally to cut the lead to 3-1 going into intermission. The Mallards scored again about midway through the second half on a penalty shot by J.B. Loomis with plenty of time left and it appeared the momentum had switched completely after Salisbury Christian’s early outburst. However, the Jaguars righted the ship and held on for the 3-2 win despite a furious attempt by Worcester to tie the game and won the ESIAC championship.
