Annual Music Fest Planned To Aid Autistic Support Group

BERLIN – The Autistic Children’s Support Group of
Worcester County, Inc. will hold its 4th Annual “Expect a Miracle” Music Fest
on Sunday, May 20 at the Greene Turtle in West Ocean City from 1-5 p.m.

The “miracle” of this event has been the amazing support
from the community and businesses that make it more successful every year.

Last year this event drew over 200 people and raised over
$11,000 as a result of donations, silent auction, Chinese auction and a 50/50
raffle. As a direct result, the Autistic Children’s Support Group (ACSG) was
able to help many local families living with Autism Spectrum Disorders.
Families have been able to attend trainings, as well as medical and therapeutic
interventions and summer camp programs. In addition, ACSG provided help to
special education departments in many area schools.

“We are looking forward to another successful year. Not
only has this event had a positive impact on local children, it has also become
a highly anticipated day of great music, food, and fun,” said event organizer,
Michelle Schachter.

Schachter said Sunday’s event and the outpouring of
support that has come with it in years past makes the support group’s mission
possible.

“The money raised from this event will again help support
much needed year-round programs for our local kids with Autism and
developmental challenges. Unfortunately, there are more and more families
facing this childhood epidemic, which is diagnosed in as many as one in 150
children,” Schachter said. “This day allows us to continue our mission to give
families a link to resources, support, and services right here on the Eastern
Shore.”

Once again the admission of a $10 tax-deductible donation
at the door will include a great All American Cookout Buffet along with lively
entertainment that includes DJ Batman and local bands such as Pompous Pie, Wes
Davis, Crowded Outhouse, and Cosmic Graffiti and a few surprise guests as
always. Guests of this event will have many opportunities to come away with
great auction items donated by dozens of area businesses.
