Monday, February 18 – Mardi Gras Carnival Events Planned For Final Run

OCEAN CITY – This year’s King and Queen candidates are currently hosting their final events in the hopes of raising the most money for the Ocean City Parrothead Club’s Mardi Gras Carnival.

This year’s Kings are Adam Osborn, Mike Cobo, Chris Hall and Mike Rutledge. The Queen candidates are Patti Miller, Veronica Donaldson, Lisa Tilghman and Mandi Wells. All money raised will go to the Life Crisis Center and Decatur Lifesavers Jr. Red Cross. The King and Queen candidates raising the most amount of money will be crowned at the Mardi Gras Carnival on March 7 at the Carousel.

The black-tie optional Mardi Gras Carnival event features sumptuous food prepared by some of Delmarva’s finest chefs and an open bar of the finest wines and spirits.

Entertainment for the Mardi Gras is tremendous this year.  Mary Lou and the Untouchables will be getting everyone on the dance floor while Zydecats will be playing our favorites from Nawlins. No Byscuyts will entertain you in our "Cosmic Muffin Jazz Club". Come and watch the Dockers Barbershop Quartet, magicians, belly dancers and street entertainers performing for the crowds. Visit the Voodoo Lounge with Madame Heleniski and friends to seek your fortune.

Silent and live auctions will be held with valuable prizes up for grabs.

Veronica Donaldson will host an Ocean City Singing Idol Contest with karaoke Provided by the GIRLZ on Friday, Feb. 22 at the Blue Ox from 5-10 p.m. Entrance fee is $10. Lisa Tilghman will be holding a Ho Down on Feb. 23 from 5-10 p.m. on Gary Renshaw’s Farm in Eden. Entrance fee is $25 per person. Offered will be pulled pork, oyster fritters, beer, wine and a live and silent auction. Music by DJ Eric.

Michael Rutledge on Sunday, Feb. 24 at Harborside will hold a tailgate featuring football, food and fun from 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Members of the 2007 Maryland terrapin football team will be in attendance as will Baltimore Ravens players Spence Malal and Mike Flynn and professional hockey player David Johns. Donation accepted at the door, food and silent auction featuring signed sports memorabilia.

Adam Osborn will be holding an All-You-Can-Eat Spaghetti Dinner at Whiskers Pub in Ocean City on Sunday, Feb. 24 from 3- 6 p.m. $10 per person. Call 410-213-0037 or email [email protected].

Veronica Donaldson on Wednesday Feb. 27 will hold Ocean City’s Boot Stomping Contest, featuring the “Ocean City’s Mardi Gras Top Coyote Cutie” contest. It will be held at Kirby’s Pub from 5-10 p.m. Winner could claim $100 cash prize and $500 in local gift certificates

Lisa Tilghman and the Crisfield Elks Lodge #1044 will be holding a Leap Year Dance It Only Happens Once Every 4 Years on Friday, Feb. 29. Cost is $20 per person or $30 a couple. Patti Miller will be holding a Little Red Mardi Gras Golf Cruise on March 1 from 7-10 p.m. at the Ocean Pines Yacht Club. There will be three ports of call: New Orleans, Jamacia and Mexico. Music will be by DJ Wax. There will be a Magic Carpet Cake, Great Diamond Hunt, silent auction and great music. Tickets are $50 each.
