Andre Lavanceau

OCEAN CITY – Andre Lavanceau, right, 71, of Ocean City and formerly of Dayton, Md., died Tuesday, April 22 at home.

Lavanceau had been an HVAC contractor and a pastry chef. He was a member of the Ocean City Parrothead Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Jeanne Casou Lavanceau, and a daughter, Susanne C. Perry.

He is survived by wife, Patricia Ilczuk-Lavanceau of Ocean City; son, Andre D. Lavanceau of Roxana, Del.; daughter, Colette M. Pountnay and her husband Tom of Laurel, Md.; four grandchildren, Ryan Perry, Lauren Pountnay, John Pountnay and Tommy Pountnay; son-in-law, Steve Perry, Columbia, Md.; in-laws, Alex and Barbara Ilczuk, Salisbury; brothers-in-law, Michael Ilczuk and his wife, Tracy, Hebron, and Mark Ilczuk, Salisbury; two nephews and niece, Zachary, Brandon and Christi Ilczuk; special friend, Carolee Humphreys, Ocean City; and faithful companion, “O.C.”

A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 28 at 4 p.m. at the Hastings Funeral Home in Selbyville, Del. Amalia Gjikurias

BERLIN – Amalia Gjikurias, age 92, died, Monday, April 21, 2008 at Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin.

Born in Greece, she was the daughter of the late Foto and Dhiamando Martino. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Gikurias (known as "Tommy the Greek").

She is survived by seven children, Lambro Gjikurias and his wife Vasiliki, Nonda Gjikurias and his wife Rulla, Theodhori Gjikurias and his wife Stella, Vasili Gjikurias and his wife Violeta, Eleftheria Duni and her husband Thanas, Aleksandra Ruci and her husband Theodhori, and Rulla Gjikopulli and her husband Dimitri; 23 grandchildren including Peter, Kozmas, Spiro, Anesti and Tomi all of Ocean City and others living abroad; and five generations of relatives living in Greece.

Services were held. Arrangements handled by the Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin.

Iwan Bilous

BERLIN – Iwan Bilous, 83, died Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin.

Born in Ukraine, he was the son of the late Jakiw and Olena Bilous. He was preceded in death by his wife, Titiana Bilous, in 1993.

Bilous was a farmer. He was the founder of Whaleyville Holy Trinity Ukranian Church. He enjoyed fishing, beekeeping and loved to play chess.

He is survived by a son, John Bilous of Berlin; three daughters, Maria Schlick of Ocean City, Nadia Lupiwok of Shrewsburg, Pa. and Tina Parsons of Pittsville; a brother, Nick Bilous of California; eight grandchildren, Eva Wood, Tanya Cropper, Michael Lupiwok, Nadia Layfield, Steven Parsons, Andrew Parsons, Josephine Schlick and Jessica Schlick; and five great-grandchildren, Wally Cropper, Jennah Lupiwok, Jessie Lupiwok, Joshua Lupiwok and Kayla Layfield.

Services were held.

Mary J. Fetty

OCEAN CITY – On April 16, 2008, Mary J. Fetty of Ocean City died.

She was the beloved wife of Gilbert Fetty; loving mother of Cindy Buckheit, Donna Romeo, Mark Fetty, Julie Fetty, Lisa Adams and Vinson Fetty; beloved sister of Edward Huber, Jr.; and cherished grandmother to 10.

A memorial service will be held at the Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services Chapel in Glen Burnie at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 28.
