Top Company Agents

BERLIN – Bethany Drew has been named top listing agent for May for Hileman Real Estate while Cindy Dorcak was recognized as the top sales agent for the month.

OC Bank Branch Sold

OCEAN CITY – Edward M. Thomas, president of The Bank of Delmarva, and Edwin F. Hale, Sr., chairman of 1st Mariner Bank, have announced an agreement to sell the Ocean City branch of 1st Mariner Bank to The Bank of Delmarva for an undisclosed amount.

The branch is located at 125th Street and Coastal Highway and the sale includes about $14 million of deposits as well as bank-owned fixed assets and leasehold improvements. 1st Mariner employees in the Ocean City office will become employees of The Bank of Delmarva. The transaction is expected to close in mid September pending regulatory approvals.

“The Bank of Delmarva has had a lending presence in Ocean City and the surrounding markets for years, which gives us a customer base there. We look forward to serving the existing 1st Mariner customers in the Ocean City community and growing the deposit and lending business at the branch.” Thomas said.

Hale noted, “Our decision to exit the Ocean City market was based on our ongoing strategic review of our retail branch network, which focuses on realigning our resources more closely with our core market. While exiting the Ocean City market was a difficult decision, we are pleased that our customers and employees will now be affiliated with The Bank of Delmarva, a strong local, community oriented institution.”

The Bank of Delmarva is a full service, independent community bank. It has $350 million in assets and four branches in Sussex County, Del. and five locations in Wicomico County, Md. The Ocean City office will be the Bank’s 10th branch location and the first in Worcester County.

Restaurateur Named To Board

BALTIMORE – Governor Martin O’Malley has announced the confirmation of four appointments to the Maryland Tourism Development Board, effective July 1. The 24-member board is an advisory panel for the Office of Tourism Development, the tourism-marketing arm of the state.

“The tourism board is a vital entity that guides our efforts to showcase and expand Maryland tourism – the fourth largest industry in our state,” said O’Malley. “It’s especially valuable in today’s competitive climate to have the counsel of a strong, experienced tourism board.”

Among the new board members is Greg Shockley, owner of Shenanigan’s Irish Pub & Grille in Ocean City and a past president of the Ocean City Hotel-Motel-Restaurant Association.

Other new members are Paul Bales, co-owner of The Crossing at Casey Jones Restaurant in Charles County; Christopher S. Schardt, senior general manager at Harborplace and The Gallery in downtown Baltimore; and Matthew Taylor, executive director of Adventure Sports Center International, located near Deep Creek Lake in Garrett County.

“We’re thrilled to add these outstanding leaders to the tourism board,” said Margot Amelia, Executive Director of the Maryland Office of Tourism Development. “They each have special talents that will blend well with the board’s efforts to advance Maryland tourism.”

Top Producer Announced

WEST OCEAN CITY – Bob Allen has been named top producer in sales for the month of May for the West Ocean City office of Long & Foster Real Estate, Inc. Top lister for the month was Judy Froman in the individual agent category and Linda Moran and the Moran Team in the team category.

Allen has been a full-time Realtor for the last 16 years and a consistent top producer. He is a member of the Chairman’s Club and a member of Long & Foster’s prestigious Gold Team.

Realtor Completes Course
