BERLIN- Stephen Decatur’s varsity baseball team remained unbeaten this week after routing visiting James M. Bennett, 13-3, on Tuesday.

The Seahawks are now 6-0 on the season after an impressive week that saw them beat two of their biggest rivals in the Bayside South division in successive games. Decatur routed Parkside, 11-1, last Thursday and followed that up with another impressive 10-run win over Bennett, 13-3, on Tuesday.

Against Parkside last week, Decatur’s Troy Bennett continued his early season success on the mound, allowing just five hits and one run while striking out four. Bennett’s performance was more impressive considering Parkside came into the contest having scored 68 runs in their previous five games.

The game was tight through the early innings before Decatur broke it open with a six-run fourth during which seven straight batters reached base. The six-run outburst was all Bennett needed as he continued to mow down the Ram hitters for the rest of the game.

On Tuesday, the Seahawks followed up the win over Parkside with another impressive showing against Bennett at home. Like Decatur, Bennett entered the game unbeaten, but was sent packing, 13-3, behind another impressive outing by a Seahawk pitcher and more than enough fire power at the plate.

Decatur’s Will Lewis turned in a steady performance on the hill, scattering eight hits while striking out five. At the plate, Josh Tyndall led the way with three hits and three RBIs, while Paul Stortini also collected three hits. Lucan Koenig also had a big day at the plate, driving in three runs.
