Former Students Welcome

Editor:

On April 24, the Town of Ocean City Beautification Committee and Ocean City Elementary School will be celebrating the 25th anniversary of their collaboration for Arbor Day. For all that time, the third grade and then the second grade students of the school have celebrated the beauty and of benefits of trees for the Town of Ocean City with skits, poems and songs.

Since this will be a very special milestone of this partnership, we would like to invite all former school officials and students who participated in any of those past Arbor Days to attend this year’s event. The festivities will be held on Friday, April 24 in Northside Park at 125th Street bayside at 9 a.m. We will begin with light refreshments in the Community Room, then move outside for the OCES performances. After which, the Mayor and City Council will be presented with several awards and commendations. To conclude the morning’s activities, a beautiful flowering tree will be planted by the students and honored guests.

If you are a former OCES student who participated in any Arbor Day, won’t you please join us for this exciting occasion of our 25th anniversary. For more information or questions, please call me at 410-289- 7060.

No To Beach Drinking

Editor:

What is it with Jim Hall wanting drinking on the beach? After all, it is a family resort.

Who wants little children around drinking and being knocked down with the beer coolers when leaving the beach by a drunk? Sun and alcohol do not mix.

Jim Hall is always thinking up things that are no benefit to the town.

Way back when, he and Lee Duggan wanted benefits from the town after sitting on council for four years. Seniors in Ocean City let them know no one gets benefits like that.

Always remember we did not hire any council men or women. They campaigned for the job. There are a lot of benefits of being a council person and they should give their best to the town. Keep it a family resort.

I say no drinking on the beach, like it has always been .I don’t want my grandchildren to drown because of a drunk knocking them down.
